This process is its own unique blend of copyediting and developmental editing. With this service, I look at your manuscript line-by-line and analyze each sentence. Then, as your editor, I will consider your word choice, readability, style, tone, cadence, and inconsistencies.

A line edit is a structural edit that focuses on the finer details, such as the flow of ideas and words, transitional elements, and style. It's what polishes and shines your prose by improving your pacing, clarity, and flow, all while maintaining your voice to communicate your story effectively. Basically, it includes:

The correction of awkward sentences/phrases/words by either trimming or tightening a sentence makes it crisper and fixes any redundancy.

Review of the narrative dialogue, vocabulary, structure, characterization, spelling, punctuation, style, and development.

Feedback and overall in-line comments.
The Process:
We have an initial meeting session over your chosen method of communication (email, phone, zoom). For this initial session, we'll discuss your manuscript. At this time, you'll let me know your target audience, what type of voice you want to portray through your characters, how you want your readers to portray your manuscript, what expectations you have for your manuscript, and where the story is will lead, etc.
Then, I'll read the manuscript in its entirety and make revisions and alterations as previously discussed with you in tracked changes as I read, along with some detailed in-line comments and suggestions on areas that can and should be improved by you.
Once done, I send you the manuscript with my in-line tracked edits and comments/suggestions back. As you go over it, you will be able to accept or reject my edits and read my in-line comments. Once that's done, you then make an appointment to have a review session with me. During this review session, we go over the in-line comments and some of the in-line edits together. In addition, I'll answer any questions you may have.
