Humanity's Hope

Updated: Oct 21, 2022

Why is it that we humans put limitations on ourselves?

We classify and categorize,

divide and separate,

label and brand every little thing.

They're like shackles bound too tight,

chafing away at our skin and grating against the bone,

almost as if to mock us about what we can or cannot do.

They say it's only HUMAN,

but what's so human about it?

Does greed,

violence,

infidelity,

dishonesty,

murder,

discrimination,

slavery,

betrayal,

and destruction,

Make us human?

These limitations, driven by fear and hate,

are the inescapable shroud of darkness that's eating us alive,

leaving us dead on the inside.

Causing my pain to be my suffering,

and my suffering to be my pain.

But you can't see my pain,

because this pain is on the inside.

Meanwhile, I stand on the outside

with a painted smile on my face.

All so that you may not be burdened with my grief.

So when will it end?

When can we simply just be?

To be with and love whomever we want,

without the judgment of others.

To be a true community by helping others

out of the kindness of our own hearts,

rather than expecting to get something out of it in return.

To live as freely as we desire in peace and harmony,

without the shackles of money, technology, and society

dictating our every move.

It begins today.

It begins with you and me!

I recently read a book about a post-apocalyptic world where there were only a few survivors, which eventually grew their numbers over time. It reminded me of the story about Noah and his family after surviving the great flood, and just like in the book, they too increased their people over time. But what if they hadn't? What if our ancient ancestors had decided not to grow their people and instead chose to keep the entire human population of Earth at a steady number of 1000 people?

Could you imagine a world like that? Or rather, would you want to live in a world like that?

Truthfully, I could and believe our world would be far better off without so many people. I mean, we humans create wars, pollute and destroy our own planet, abuse other people and innocent animals, dictate and control others, etc. We are literally setting ourselves up for our own demise. This brings to mind the controversial issue from the cartoon show Scooby-Doo, where you'll have noticed. . .

The monsters really are always humans.

Isaiah31:2

"In His wisdom, the Lord will send great disaster; He will not change His mind. He will rise against the wicked and against their helpers."

Really though, what other species do you know of that's so self-destructive to its own kind? None that I can think of.

So, is there any hope for humans at all?

Well, I believe God is our hope, but I also believe it involves us too. And don't get me wrong, I know there are good people out there in the world. Heck, I've met many good people throughout my years, and I like to think I'm one. But only having a select few good ones isn't enough compared to all the bad that people cause, which is why we are the ones who have to make a change in ourselves and become the kind of person God wants us to be. So use God's light and love to build and guide you, then share it with the world.

It's up to all of us to make that choice. . .

A choice not to lie, lust, greed, dictate, hurt, discriminate, betray, envy, covet, steal, etc.

Because if we can't make this change in ourselves, then maybe we really should exist in a post-apocalyptic world with hardly anyone left in it.

Jeremiah4:28

"The Earth will mourn and the Heavens will be draped in black because of my decree against my people. I have made up my mind and will not change it."

If that's not what you want, then be the change the human race needs.

After all, it starts with you and me!

Jeremiah26:13

"But if you stop your sinning and begin to obey the Lord your God, He will change His mind about this disaster that He has announced against you."

Colossians3:12

"Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience."

Deuteronomy10:16

"Therefore, change your hearts and stop being stubborn."

Ephesians4:32

"Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you."

Isaiah55:7

"Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that He may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for He will forgive generously."

James2:24

"So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone."
