Ripples

If a single drop,
can make this big of a ripple.
Imagine what one single word
could do to someone.
What you say matters;
it can hurt,
even destroy,
mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Cherish the ones you love,
value them and their feelings,
no matter how big or small.
With love,
comes pain.
But let the love be stronger.
This is precisely why we must be careful with our words. That nursery rhyme "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me. . ." is simply untrue. Words have power behind them and can cause just as much or even more trauma than any physical ailment.
Psalms64:3
"They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim their bitter words like arrows."
Psalms140:3
"Their tongues sting like a snake; the venom of a viper drips from their lips."
Honestly, some adults have even forgotten the simple rule: "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all." It's such an easy rule that even children learn this in pre-school. So why can't adults seem to keep to this simple rule?
Proverbs21:23
"Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble."
Well, the answer is sin.
We let wicked thoughts cloud our minds, hindering our judgment, which then spews out of our mouths. Instead, try to clear your minds and think of what is pure, admirable, and lovely so that words pleasing to one's soul slip off your tongue rather than vile vulgarity.
Philippians4:8
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."
So, the next time you open your mouth, think, is this worth making a negative comment about? Will this make the situation any better, or will it make things worse and cause pain? Or worse. . . possibly even death? Don't forget, there are people out there fighting silent battles that we might not know of, and your words can tip the scales of life or death in that situation, especially those who are sensitive souls and/or with depression and are prone to suicidal tendencies.
Proverbs15:4
"Gentle words are a tree of life; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit."
Therefore, think before you act, speaking words of love and life into this world!

WISELY!
James1:19
"Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry."
Job27:4
"My lips will speak no evil, and my tongue will speak no lies."
Proverbs13:3
"Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything."
